How To Prepare A Photoshoot For Content Creation?
It’s so exciting to book a shoot and then get there not thinking if the photos are for your website, socials or marketing/digital products.
The easiest way to start is to think how you’re going to use them:
start with how many social media photos do you need? Is it 15, posting every second day or is it 10 images, posting every 3 days. You might only need 10-15 and fill the rest with quotes, own smartphone photos etc. Whatever it is you need to determine that or have a vague idea how often you’d like to post or how you going to use the images.
prepare the topics you want to write about and from there what type of photo would you love to post with it. For example I wanted to write a blog post about how to choose outfits for photoshoots, so I got this image below taken for me choosing an item of clothing (hung up all my fave t-shirts). I’m making my post fun and interactive with an image that suits the topic. You get the gist of it. Once you start, you can’t stop and it’s fun.
make sure you make a checklist and write it down. Nothing worse than client vaguely knowing what they want. Write it all down and make life easier for yourself and the photographer. One of my regular clients literally writes down what they want photographed and then just tick if off once it’s done. Easy ;)
now if you think you’re gonna post about 10 - 15 topics a month and your average 1 hour photoshoot will give you about 25 - 30 photos you can actually make it work for you for longer. In one photoshoot you can have at leat 20 different images and that really means 2 months of content for you. And if you stretch it out more, it can last you even longer.
I usually tell my clients to note down for 1 hour photoshoot at least 10 different ‘poses’ they want so we can keep to the brief and the rest will come in the shoot. Think those random double chin laughing shots that everybody think they don’t want but secretly love those to death (because it represent them and I’m all about that truth).
I would love to know if this has been helpful at all and if it has made you think about your next/ first photoshoot then I would love to work with you. You can check out my packages here or email me.
